The Perschen-Santiago de Compostela project started with one first stage of the Camino de Santiago between Logroño and Burgos. Along this stage, we were able to present the same 12 Sound Illuminations created in Perschen in seven churches and monasteries. But the greatest success has been the participation of family and friends, who have filled it with human and vital content. This musical project has been the seed that has allowed us to enjoy nature, landscapes, people, art, culture, and life and friendship in their richest and most generous expression.
The 12 Sound Illuminations are presented as a sound intervention, every five minutes in succession, separated by one-minute pauses. Each sound is made up of tiny fragments that come together, dilute, pile up, or disperse in space, creating movements and densities that are associated with perceptual changes. Added to these variations are those created by the incredible reverberation of churches, which distorts and lengthens the life of sounds. The sound of the illuminations itself does not express anything, but it is imbued with the spiritual message that emanates from the artistic details and religious images that adorn the churches. These spaces give specific content and context to the sound, which resonates with their timeless character, enriching each other to intensify their evocative power.
